Flying Dutchman Alec Kopyt

Alec Kopyt in NYConcert of Alec Kopyt (Odessa/Amsterdam) with New York band “Golem” at Mehanata in December of 2007 was probably the most important and successful event presented by Ycrop.com. Big thanks to Annette Kogan of “Golem”, without whom we couldn’t have done this.

About Alec Kopyt:
His roots go back to Odessa, a port city where Russian, Jewish, Greek, and Romany cultures collided. Growing up among thieves, prostitutes and swindlers, he was exposed to various forms of street culture. He began playing accordion at the age of ten and became an expert in the traditional Jewish music. Authenticity, raw energy and powerful performance made Alec Kopyt a cult figure of underground scene in Europe. He is currently playing with Amsterdam Klezmer Band, and has an ongoing project, P.O.Z.A., with various guest musicians.

Back in 2006: Salute IDF Fundraiser party

September 12th, 2009, posted in Events & Promos

collageIn August of 2006, when Israel lead a military operation against Hezbollah, there was a good cause for a fundraiser. Ycrop.com, RussianMix.com and RJeneration joined forces and did a party together that raised $1500. This money was donated to FUND FOR IMMIGRANT SOLDIERS ALONE IN ISRAEL to help Russian-speaking soldiers who have no family in the country.

Our call was: The Russian-speaking Jewish young professionals of New York UNITE to celebrate and benefit the troops of the Israeli Defence Force as they fight for the future of Israel and the free world! Donate generously even if you can’t attend by visiting www.jewishagency.org

I once again would like to thank Yael Kalcheim & Lenny Gusel of RJeneration, Vovan Shifrin of RussianMix, Tonearm and everyone who came to our party.
